Attending Green Camp, Bali Essay During the school holidays, I participated in a camp called Green Camp Bali. The camp was organized by Kinderworld Educare Centre. Green Camp Bali, is located in a famous international school, Green school, in Ubud, Bali. There was a total of 20 pupils aged 9-18 who participated in the camp and two teachers accompanying the trip. The date of the camp was from the 29th of May to the 3rd of June. On the 29th of May, the participants and the teachers gathered in Kinderworld Educare Centre and headed off to LCCT International Airport by bus and boarded a plane to Balis International Airport in Denpasar. The flight took about 4 hours. When we reached Denpasar, we had our lunch in a cafe and headed to Ubud by bus. Two hours later, we arrived at a small village in Ubud, carried out bags and walked in a narrow path to enter the school. As we walked along the narrow path, we saw many different types of plants and trees. There were birds and colourful butterflies flying all around as well. When we reached the school, I was amazed at how wonderful and extraordinary it was. We had some local snacks and some drinks as well. Next, we went to a small room, put down our bags and we listened to a simple Green Camp orientation by some camp instructors. We also introduced ourselves. Later on, we had a tour of the Green School. The school was very big. The whole school in including the walls, floors, tables, chairs and stairs was built primarily from bamboos, a local, natural, renewable resource. There was no air conditioner there too. We also saw the classrooms and library which were also made from bamboos. The field was very big as well. And what surprised me the most was the schools composting toilet. It is a dry toilet with no water to flush it and they use saw dust to cover up the smell. Later, we were brought to our yurts to unpack our stuff, take a bath, and get some rest. The following days had been a blast. We played many different games, we enjoyed a Wayang kulit show which is a Balinese shadow puppetry. We made some organic chocolate, a Balinese Kite, we also played a Balinese Treasure Hunt. We also enjoyed ourselves by playing Mepantigan which is a Balinese Mud pit Martial arts. It was very funny and interesting. We went on a 3 hour hike on the paddy fields near the school as well. Although it was tiring, it was a good treat to see the beauty of nature. Words cant describe how good it felt to be standing in the middle of a huge paddy field, enjoying the breezy wind and the breathtaking scenery. We also visited a Night Safari, we saw different types of snakes, bugs and reptiles. My favourite part of the camp activities had to be the adventures in the Ayung River which was located between the main building and the cafeteria. We also swang the Tarzan Rope and jumped into the river. The meals in Green Camp was mouthwatering. We had a Balinese Satay, Organic Spaghetti and Balinese Style Chicken and lots of other varieties of food. My favourite dish was definitely the organic pizza. We created our own pizza, we roughed the dough and made it into crazy shapes and put the ingredients that we liked and put it in the oven to bake. My pizza was square and half the pizza had tomato, cheese and mushroom while the other half had strawberries and chocolate chips!

On Friday, November 22nd, 1963 the 35th President of the United States of America, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated. This unfortunate tragedy has created more controversy than any other single event. Today, the people of the United States of America are asking the same questions that the people who witnessed this tragic event. Who did it? Why did they do it? Was there a cover up? In this essay I will try to show who had a motive to assassinate President John F. Kennedy. When President Kennedy took the oath of office on January 20th, 1961, I don't think he thought he would have to make any key decisions so early in his term. On April 17, 1961 the President's first international crises turned out to be a disastrous one. There were 1200 anti-Castro refugees that were trained by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to invade Cuba at the Bay of Pigs. Once the invasion began at the Bay of Pigs, Kennedy decided to pull back the air support. Kennedy gave the order to reduce the three air strikes down to one air strike. Right before the only air strike at the Bay of Pigs, Kennedy decided to cut the number of planes involved in the air attack. The reason for the cut in the number of air strikes and planes was because the word of American participation got out. The 1200 anti-Castro refugees that were involved in the Bay of Pigs were either killed or held hostage. The hostages were later released after Kennedy was forced to pay ransom for Castro's 1113 prisoners. After this disaster was over Kennedy approved an anti-Castro Operation which was called Operation Mongoose. This operation was an attempt to assassinate Castro by using Mafia hit men and exploding cigars. Kennedy later called off Operation Mongoose.(library.thinkquest.org) In my opinion, Kennedy's reducing of planes and air strikes during the Bay of Pigs, turning his back on the CIA trained refugees, and the ending of Operation Mongoose is enough for me to believe that the CIA/Mafia would have a motive to assassinate President Kennedy. When you are trying to show who had a motive to assassinate President Kennedy you should ask yourself these questions. Who would gain the most by President Kennedy's death? Who had several strong motives to kill President Kennedy? Whose sole obsession in life was to become the U.S. President? And finally, What Vice-President had a short expected life span? The answer to all the above questions is Lyndon B. Johnson. When Rep. Bryce Harlow was asked to describe Lyndon B. Johnson he was quoted "Larger than life character. Had to hold stage center, needed to dominate and control. He couldn't stand not being the cynosure of all eyes. He had to be at the head of the table...And people had to do what he thought they should do."(Dyer.pg.433) Being the Vice President there was no way LBJ could do or be any of these. As long as Kennedy was President, LBJ would never hold stage center, and be head of the table. Knowing that LBJ was like this, Kennedy made LBJ Head of Committee in five different Committees. JFK sent LBJ on several foreign trips to help represent the U.S. in competition with communism. Johnson saw himself as a minor influence in a administration society to Conquer the "New Frontier".(Dyer.pg.435) LBJ later described his Vice Presidency as "filled with trips around the world, Chauffeurs, Men saluting, people clapping, Chairman ships of councils, but in the end it is nothing. The Black Plague, also know as the Black Death or Bubonic Plague can. This disease killed thousands of people and left many devastated. In the 1500’s the Black Plague had a huge outbreak in England that killed over eighty-thousand people. The cause was not sure back then so victims could not take proper care and get the right medical treatment they needed. Random outbreaks would happen and there was no way to cure them. Once you were infected you had about two to six days until death. Many people died miserable deaths and others where left depressed. In the sixteen and seventeen centuries victims of the Black Plague would be sealed in their houses, which were locked and bolted from the outside. Nobody was allowed to enter the house and the victims were not allowed to leave it. Once the outbreak occurred, Plague pits, about twenty feet deep, were dug for the infected citizens. Thousands of people would be thrown into the pit each day to be burned and have their bodies disposed of so the infection wouldn’t spread even more. Many people lost their lives to this uncontrollable disease. There were many ways that the Black Plague was transmitted. It was carried by rodents such as rats and squirrels, but it was also transmitted to humans by fleas. Sometimes it was transmitted by direct contact through open sores or even an infected person’s breath. Cats, dogs and other animals were also common carriers of the Black Plague. When trade and war began, the Plague spread tremendously killing even more people than it already has. Getting infected by the Black Plague was not fun. Black spots would appear on the victims skin, which was were they got the name â€Å"the Black Death. † Early symptoms were a fever, the chills, a bad headache and extreme exhaustion. Following that came swollen glands, mainly in the armpits and groin areas. Finally you would become very ill and soon pass away. It was not just the people who lived in the towns who were at risk of catching the Plague. Elizabethan farmers and retailers of farm produce were in constant danger of getting the virus, which could affect their job. If they got it, it would spread to all of the animals making it very hard to survive. The Elizabethan era was a truly dangerous time. The Black Plague ruined many families and destroyed many lives. The Plague does still exist today but is not as common as it was in the Elizabethan era, and we have cures for it now. Many outbreaks occurred and many people lost their lives. Bolt wanted to break the 300 m record set by Michael Johnson in the Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava, but he could not do so due to an injury in his Achilles tendon. After the recovery from the injury, which took a month, he came back to track and field and comfortably won the 100 m at the Athletissima meeting in  Lausanne. He also defeated Asafa Powell in Paris at the Meeting Areva. However, he lost the race to Tyson Gay at the 100 m finals at the DN Galan. In the 2011 Daegu World Championships, Bolt was disqualified in the 100 meters finals because of a false start. He won the 200 meters in 19.40 s. He also won a gold medal in the 4Ãâ€"100 meters relay, setting the world record of 37.04 s, along with teammates Yohan Blake, Michael Frater, and Nesta Carter. In the months leading up to the 2012 London Olympics, Bolt was widely criticized for supposedly not taking the competition seriously.
